ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi! I’m Sky Friedman. I’m a senior at the University of Michigan, majoring in Organizational Studies and minoring in Writing. I grew up in Miami, went to boarding school in Vermont, and now live in Ann Arbor. So at this point, adapting to new places, communities, and versions of myself feels like a hobby.

I love storytelling in all forms: writing, film, and conversations that stretch too late into the night. I care deeply about friendship, connection, and the way our experiences shape who we become. I’m a big believer in Yerba Mate, impulsive creative projects, and the kind of friendships where you can talk about everything and nothing for hours. I enjoy laughing, exploring new places, and making things.

I’m still figuring things out, but I’m doing it with curiosity, intention, and a sense of humor.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
When I first started writing, I thought this project would just be about my female friendships. But the more I wrote, the more I realized my friendships were only part of a larger story. The real question wasn’t just how these relationships mattered but why they feel so essential in the first place.
So now, this collection is both: a reflection on the world women in their twenties are stepping into and a celebration of the friendships that help carry us through it. It explores the pressures, contradictions, and expectations shaping womanhood and the support systems that make that navigation bearable, meaningful, and sometimes even beautiful. These essays hope to offer an honest reflection on the confusion, beauty, and support that define our twenties.
